I’ve been pretty tired this week, so haven’t done much, or been in a good mood to be honest.
Tuesday was pretty awesome though. I went to see a band called Gnarwolves at one of my favourite venues, the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. I love the Brudenell because it’s a really intimate venue, and the sound quality is excellent. Plus the drinks are dirt cheap. Always a good thing, right? Not when you’re up for work at 7AM! My job is looking after tiny human beings, which means I have to be a responsible adult for a few hours a day 😛 So I only had 3 pints, but for some reason I couldn’t sleep properly, a side effect that regularly happens to me when I drink. Meh.
When we arrived, I was shocked to see that we were in the smaller room which I didn’t even knew existed, and isn’t the room that I’ve been in the past. I was really disappointed, but it turned out to be quite the experience! It was much smaller, but there was sofa’s around the room, so when the band came on my Boyfriend and I stood on the sofa’s and got an amazing view of the band and crowd. The crowd was fucking hilarious! As they’re a punk/hardcore band, there was a lot of crowed surfing. We saw people falling off the stage, and even put a hole in the roof! Madness. My other half didn’t know who they were, but recently we’ve been to a fair few gigs as I enjoy seeing lesser known bands just as much as the bigger bands sometimes. If you like rock music, then I think that you should definitely give Gnarwolves a listen, their new album ‘Outsiders’ is fantastic.
Last year I didn’t get to many gigs, I saw twentyonepilots, You Me At Six and Bring Me The Horizon, but that’s all. I just moved in with Paul, and we were saving for California for the majority of the year. I truly missed going to them on a regular basis, as I prefer it much more than going on a night out in town. I made myself a new years resolution of going to one gig a month. I would recommend doing this if you’re a music lover, as checking out who’s playing on the Bands in Town app can lead you to discover some really good music. Gotta love the 21st century!
So far I’ve been to… The Wonder Years in January. GODDAMNYOULOOKHOLYBATHEDINTHEJANUARYLIGHT (sorry, couldn’t resist)
Then in February I didn’t go to any, because I fucking suck at new years resolutions.
In March, I went to Lower Than Atlantis at the O2 Academy Leeds. It was Paul and I’s first gig together. Fantastic night, until I had way to much Sambucca and spoilt it. All is forgotten. We also went to see a band called Hurray For The Riff Raff the week after, which weren’t really our thing, but it was cool to check out a different genre of music. We both agreed that we both wanted her to do some kind of sick guitar solo and start going mental, LOL! We decided that we’re just gonna stick to rock music from now on, as the sick guitar solo we desired was unlikely to happen if we decide to go to another folk band again…
In April, we went to see Real Friends, which were probably my favourite show so far. They’re so energetic, and I just loved the banter they had with the crowd. Cracking night!
I was meant to be seeing my favourite band from my teenage years, You Me At Six. I’ve been to see them on every UK tour for the last 7 years, but I didn’t go this time due to my best friend not being able to make it. I was disappointed, as I really enjoyed Night People, but I’m sure I’ll get another opportunity to see them soon. I only saw them last October to be fair, so it isn’t a big deal.
Obviously in May I saw Gnarwolves, as I said above. I really wanna catch Wheatus at the Brudenell on the 22nd, simply just to see Teenage Dirtbag live. Classic.
In June, we’re going to the Isle Of Wight festival to see Arcade Fire headline. In July, we’re seeing Arcade Fire again in Manchester. We’re both proper excited, as we both equally love Arcade Fire. Our apartment is The Arcade Fire HQ. We play their live shows on the TV whilst having breakfast, we wear our band merch proudly whilst snuggling on the sofa. Arcade Fire is literally the foundation of our lives at the moment hahaha ❤
I don’t have anything else planned yet, but I’m sure something exciting will come up soon. I wouldn’t mind seeing Kasabian this year. Loving their new album, plus their other material is obviously the shizzzzz.
This wasn’t intentionally meant to be a music blog, but I kinda got carried away with myself as per usual.
Will be back soon, I’m really enjoying this blogging lark.
